Juliette Girl Scout support

Juliette Girl Scout support

Welcome to Juliette Girl Scouting! Juliette Girl Scouts are registered as individual members, not members of a troop. In place of a troop leader, a parent, guardian or adult mentor supports the Juliette Girl Scout. Also, there is a Juliette Girl Scout program specialist dedicated to helping Juliettes and their families discover fun, friendships and values in Girl Scouting. It’s all about making the world a better place.

The official Girl Scout year begins on the first day of October each year. Please make sure you have registered for the current Girl Scout year in order to participate in Girl Scout events and activities.

What does a Juliette Girl Scout do?

Welcome emails and postcards are sent as Juliette membership forms are received, processed and reported. Juliettes don't have a special program, they do the same things that every other Girl Scout her age can do. Together, with an adult family member, they need to search out the events, activities and resources that interest them. Then plan a long-range schedule and calendar of the Girl Scout events and activities that you want to do. When looking for council events check the Program Events page for your grade level AND the multi-level section which may contain additional programs for your grade level. Remember to check the Web site often for new information and events that may come up throughout the year.

For quick access to information about the new programs and activities that comp up throughout the year, Juliettes can also join the Juliette Yahoo group. This is a place where Juliettes and their mentors can get up-to-date information, share ideas and network with each other. As a member of the group you will get automatic e-mails of things that Juliettes should know.

Troop and service unit sponsored events and activities

To learn more about Girl Scout events and activities that are sponsored at the troop or service unit level, you’ll need to contact a program or membership specialists. Call the council’s Atlanta office, (770) 702-9100, to contact the membership specialist for your county or school. Then contact your membership specialist and ask for any monthly e-newsletter, regional newsletter or special announcements they may have for your area.

Fall Product Program sales help pay for Juliette Girl Scouts programs!

Juliettes can earn credits to use for their Girl Scout activities by participating in the new Fall Product Program. Girls can take orders for magazine subscriptions or renewals, candy and nuts starting Sept. 18, 2009 and use the credits they earn towards program fees and Girl Scout Badge & Sash Store merchandise. An adult family member, parent or guardian must participate in a pre-sale training in order to learn about the special procedures for Juliettes and to obtain order forms. Contact the Juliette program specialist at (770) 702-9150 for training information.

Remember that Juliettes can sell Girl Scout Cookies as independent Girl Scouts too. The Juliette Girl Scout Cookie information meetings will take place in December during the Cookie University events or the council’s Cookie Rally event. Juliettes with a parent or guardian must attend one of these meetings in order to obtain order forms and learn about the program for Juliettes.

News from the Girl Program department

Beginning this Girl Scout year we have re-aligned program staff positions and have shifted from regional program specialists to the pathways model. There are now six program specialists prepared to serve you through both pathways opportunities and by grade level.

  • Debbie Pompie and Sabrina Jones, are now the program specialists for the Events Pathway for Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies and Juniors (includes Girl Scout Bronze Award).
  • Terry Otto, is now the program specialist for the Series Pathway for Girl Scout Cadettes.
  • Gloria Todd, is now the program specialist for the Event Pathway for Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors.

  • Tiffany Tolbert, is now the program specialist for the Travel Pathway for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors.

  • Lissa Snowdon, is now the program specialist for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) serving Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors.

  • Jill Allison, is the outdoor program manager for the Camp Pathway, which will serve all grade levels.

As we transition into these new positions over the next few months Terry Otto will continue to oversee Juliettes, however, there will no longer be a dedicated Girl Scout Juliette specialist because Juliettes will be supported by all council staff members. Gloria Todd will continue to oversee the S.A.I.L. programs but some areas will now become the responsibility of other program specialists. Gloria will handle the Girl Scout Gold Award along with several S.A.I.L. committees. Terry will handle the Girl Scout Silver Award, Program Aide and Girl Scout Cookie programs. Tiffany Tolbert will handle the destinations and global groups. You should direct your questions to the appropriate program specialist or to the Program Manager, Nancy Brune at (770) 702-9142.

Your correct Girl Scout grade level

The levels of Girl Scouts are tied to a girl's grade during the current membership year. For the upcoming 2009-10 membership year, girls in:

  • Grades K-1 - Girl Scout Daisies
  • Grades 2-3 - Girl Scout Brownies
  • Grades 4-5 - Girl Scout Juniors
  • Grades 6-8 - Girl Scout Cadettes
  • Grades 9-10 - Girl Scout Seniors
  • Grades 11-12 - Girl Scout Ambassadors

Juliettes currently in grades 1, 3, 5, 8 and 10 should plan to "bridge-up" to the next level. Bridging is the term the council uses when girls are entering the next level of Girl Scouts. Girls that are bridging will often participate in activities to learn about the next level, some activities towards earning a bridging patch and/or attend a bridging ceremony. Juliettes are encouraged to take part in these activities with local troops and service units. Contact your local membership specialist to learn about bridging and award ceremonies in your area.
